The Livingston County Birth Circle was founded in 2013 as a support group for expecting and new families.  We offer regularly scheduled in-person meetings and special events centered on topics related to the childbearing year, as well as a companion Facebook group where more than 800 local members post their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum related questions.  They participate in daily conversations with their peers and maternal health advocates who offer guidance and support.

At our meetings over the last five years we have discussed topics and featured guest speakers on natural birth, breastfeeding, prenatal nutrition, postpartum health & wellness, sibling adjustment, infant massage, among many other topics.  Monetary and in-kind donations from individuals and businesses have funded our special events such as Meet the Doulas, Spa Night, Maternal Wellness Night, and Cloth Diaper Chats.  We are a true grassroots, community organization and we collectively strive to raise the bar for maternity care in our community during a time when many new parents are suffering from a gross lack of perinatal support.

Another event we are proud to be a part of is the Global Big Latch On.  2019 will be our second year to host a location for this worldwide event, where people gather together to breastfeed and offer peer support to each other.  It will again be held at ALL-STARS Preschool in Milford, MI on August 3rd from 10am-1pm.  Friends, family and community join this celebration to promote and support breastfeeding. Volunteers from within the community host each location.  Hosting a Global Big Latch On event creates a lasting support network for the community.  Last year at our location we counted 21 latches, 24 breastfeeding people and 65 attendees in total.  We garnered nearly $2000 in donated items for our basket giveaway from 14 local businesses.  This year we aim to draw even more participants and reach deeper into our community to share local resources for expecting and new families and show them the vast support network they have for their breastfeeding and parenting journey.

We are accepting any last minute donations before assembling our giveaway baskets. If you’d like to donate any WHO Code compliant products or services, please message us at

All people who support breastfeeding, who breastfeed or exclusively pump are welcome to join us for a beautiful afternoon of celebration and milky love. You can register for free here and you can share the event on Facebook with your friends here.
