How much do the meetings cost?
LCBC meetings are always FREE!  Some special events may be free.

Who are the meetings for?
LCBC meetings and events are designed to support birthing people in their childbearing and childrearing years.

Are partners permitted to attend?
Birth partners are welcome to attend meetings where indicated. We keep most meetings restricted to protect privacy and to encourage an environment where pregnant people can feel free to be open/honest about their feelings and experiences.  Special events are typically open to all (unless otherwise specified).

Are children allowed?
Children are welcome at the meetings and most events but we do not have childcare available. If you’d like to bring your child(ren) to meetings, we ask that you bring a quiet activity to keep them occupied during the discussion.

What is the meeting format?
Regular meetings are two hours long and are formatted to discuss a predetermined topic for about an hour. The remaining time is kept open for discussion or socializing. Sometimes we talk about our birth experiences, sometimes we talk more deeply about the topic . . . whatever the needs of the group dictates that evening.  The format for special events will vary.

Meeting structure adheres to:

  • 6:30pm – 7:30pm — Discussion Topic
  • 7:30pm – 8:30pm — Support/conversation

If you are not interested in the topic, you can come at 7:30pm and enjoy socializing.

Events such as Meet the Doulas, Babies N’ Brews, and Cloth Diaper/Babywearing Chats are special events scheduled outside of regular meeting times.

Where are the meetings held?
Meeting space is graciously donated by 2|42 Community Church in Brighton, MI. Special events are held in locations around Livingston County and West Oakland County, Michigan.

What should I wear to meetings?
Come as you are! There is no need to fuss.

Is food permitted at meetings?
If you need to bring a snack, feel free! We also suggest bringing your own water/beverage.

Do I need to RSVP to the free meetings?
We always appreciate knowing who to expect, especially when we have a guest speaker scheduled.  You can RSVP on our Facebook event page and/or our Eventbrite page to let us know you are coming.  Both will be linked for each meeting on the meetings & events page.
